Brotherbird is a bakery-cafe located in Singapore at Bali Lane. They feature soft-serve desserts with unique flavours of house-made soft serve with mochi bursts and doughnuts. Their mochi croissants and cruffins are also a hit among their customers.
As Brotherbird offers the option for their customers to dine-in at their seating area, they were faced with a common challenge among many order and pay first F&B outlets which is overcrowding in their shops.
This is due to the customers placing their orders at the cashier terminal, only to realise that there are no more tables available.
The result will be customers waiting around in their cafe dining area for tables, which is commonly seen at coffee shops and hawker centres in Singapore.
This makes it difficult for them to adhere to the Safe Management Measures (SMMs) that were put in place due to the pandemic. Hence, Brotherbird decided to adopt iMakan’s QR ordering system to digitalize ordering and make tweaks to their operations to better manage customer crowds.
Brotherbird printed static QR codes that were pasted on each table for customers to scan and place orders.
Instead of having their customers queue up at their cashier counter to place their orders before getting seated, their customers were now able to look for an available table and scan the QR code on their tables to browse the menu and place their orders.
By adopting this workflow, Brotherbird’s staff were able to stop customers from entering their shop once tables were fully occupied which helped them to eliminate overcrowding at their cashier counter and dining area.
iMakan offers merchants the choice of accepting customers’ payments through online payment or receiving payment from customers at the cashier.
Brotherbird on the other hand decided to use a unique payment collection method often seen in restaurants but with a twist.
After customers’ food has been served, instead of waiting for customers to call for the bill after finishing their meal, Brotherbird allocates staff to collect payment from their customers through a wireless contactless payment terminal or by collecting cash.
This ordering flow further reduces crowding at their cashier counter. Hence, Brotherbird has been able to control their customer crowd by implementing iMakan’s QR ordering to help digitalize order taking to adhere to SMMs and maintain a comfortable environment in their cafe for their customers.
